the church of the twentieth century missed. And this is one of the reasons why it has fared so poorly at the end of the century and the beginning of the twenty-first century. If the culture rejects Christianity, it should be because it has refused to hear the message of Christ rather than that it turned its back on the church’s outdated, culturally irrelevant methods (1 Cor. 1:23). Another question that must be answered is where the churches that thrive in the twenty-first century will come from.
